World wonders

The (Serengeti-Maasai Mara) Wildebeest migration was recently named one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The annual wildebeest migration has been taking place for more than a million years and international film makers have been documenting it for several decades. They migrate from Tanzania to Kenya; from Serengeti to Maasai Mara. The herds of wildebeests attract all sorts of predators providing the amazing scenery where they’re hunted and killed especially by crocodiles when crossing rivers.

Other predators include: lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas. The wildebeest population is estimated at 1.5 million. However, they normally graze with zebras and gazelles which consist of approximately 550,000 of the figure. There are two wildebeest species in Africa. The blue wildebeests are native to Tanzania and Kenya while the black wildebeests are native to Botswana and South Africa. Source: http://african.howzit.msn.com/
